Hot dog vendors win settlement over warming wieners in ‘kraut’ water

Hot-dog-cart vendors won a settlement with the city that will allow them to warm their wieners in water that also contains sauerkraut and onions.

The settlement of the class-action lawsuit also means that vendors fined for mixing the franks and tasty fixin’s can apply for a refund, according to hotdogvendorlawsuit.com, a Web site set up to inform vendors about developments in the case.

“It was a classic David-and-Goliath-type situation,” Attorney Howard Godnick, who represented the vendors, told NY1.

The fines could have amounted to a week’s earnings, he added.
