MTA considering ‘world-class restaurant’ for Grand Central

The MTA will consider a proposal next week to open a 16,000-square-foot food hall in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal.

The operation, including a 100-seat restaurant and take-out venue, would be run by Claus Meyer, co-creator of Noma in Copenhagen, ranked “Best Restaurant in the World” in surveys by Restaurant magazine four of the past five years, the MTA said.

“We are delighted to consider welcoming a world-class restaurant that would enliven spaces that are either closed to the public or used only for special events,” MTA Chairman Thomas F. Prendergast said.
If approved it would open in 2016.
