The man who viciously attacked a “friend” with a hammer in the Bronx turned himself in to police Saturday, cops said.

Michael Dilello, 43, attacked the 41-year-old victim, who had gone out to meet him around midnight but returned to his Schuylerville home at about 3:30 a.m. with cuts and bruises on his head, cops said.

The hammered man said, “I love you,” to his frightened wife before losing consciousness.

He was taken to Jacobi hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Dilello turned himself in sometime Saturday morning and he has been charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal mischief , cops said.

It wasn’t immediately clear what sparked the violence and the NYPD would not say where the near-fatal attack initially took place.
