Jimmy Kimmel signs on for 2 more years with ABC

Jimmy Kimmel is happy at ABC.

The late-night host has extended his contract for “Jimmy Kimmel Live” for another two years, keeping him at the network through January 2017.

Kimmel will soon be the longest-serving host in network late-night, having launched “JKL” in 2003 (he moved to 11:35 p.m. in January 2013). Jimmy Fallon just took the reins at NBC’s “The Tonight Show” last February and Stephen Colbert is set to succeed David Letterman on CBS’ “Late Show” sometime in 2015.

“JKL” is in third place in the late-night race in terms of viewers, averaging 2.7 million viewers, behind Fallon (4.5 million) and Letterman (2.8 million).

But in the key advertising demo of adults under 50, Kimmel moves up to second behind “The Tonight Show.”
