Chinese student hit by car studied while waiting for help

In the time it took an ambulance to arrive to the scene of a traffic accident, an 18-year-old Beijing student learned 107 English words.

Wang Dafan was struck by a car and thrown off of her bicycle while on her way to a class. She sustained injuries to her head, arms and legs, but after checking that her injuries weren’t serious, she pulled out her tablet and spent the idle time studying, the Daily Mail reported.

“I found that studying the English words was a great help and soothed my pain,” Dafan said.

“I was in pain but the study kept my mind off feeling hurt. I think that we are all on this earth for such a short time that we owe it to our family, friends and each others to become the best that we can be and you can only do this if you are educated,” the brave girl explained.

Cops and ambulance workers were shocked when they saw the girl sprawled in the road.

“We couldn’t believe it when we got there. She was obviously in pain but she was using an electronic dictionary to memorize English words for her university lessons,” a police spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

The intelligent young woman has won lots of scholarships, as well as academic prizes. She currently attends Capital Normal University in Beijing and one day dreams of studying at Oxford or Cambridge.
