A city high-school teacher was busted Tuesday for taking an underage student on dates to Midtown hot spots — where the girl was freely served wine and mixed drinks despite her age, cops said.
Cesar Alvarez, 26, took the 16-year-old, a student at the Felisa Rincon de Gautier Institute for Law and Public Policy in The Bronx, to Carmine’s on West 44th Street on April 15, where the ponytailed lothario bought the girl white wine, a criminal complaint said.
On May 16, he took her to Quinn’s Bar & Grill on West 44th Street, where she pounded down “at least five alcoholic drinks” he bought her, according to the complaint.
When the teen got home, her parents saw she was plastered and notified authorities, sources said.
The teacher was busted at about 6 p.m. Tuesday and arraigned Wednesday in Manhattan Criminal Court on a count of third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Alvarez was released without bail.
A worker at Quinn’s wouldn’t address whether the teen was served, saying only that it was the bar’s policy to check patron IDs.
A manager at Carmine’s said, “We don’t serve minors. We normally ID everybody.”
