Reggie Miller has some coaching advice for the Knicks

Reggie Miller believes his former Pacers teammate Mark Jackson should at least get an audience with Knicks president Phil Jackson.

“He certainly should get an interview going off his resume,’’ Miller said on a conference call to promote coverage of the Western Conference Finals on TNT, where he works as an analyst. “He certainly should get an interview. I’m not saying he should get the job if Phil wants someone whom he’s familiar with and understands triangle. Certainly Mark Jackson should get an interview. He’s born and bred in New York, knows the media landscape, was Rookie of the Year. He knows the city, the climate. That should warrant at least an interview.’’

It is believed that Mark Jackson — who was let go by the Warriors after winning a combined 98 games the past two seasons — has some interest in the job, but would be wary of Phil Jackson’s heavy influence from the presidency box.

Miller was asked whether Derek Fisher, also tipped as a candidate for the Knicks job, should retire following the postseason — as Fisher has said he will.

“Not the way he shot the ball [Monday] night,” Miller said. “Obviously, it comes down to if he’s ready to take that next step and next level to be a professional head coach. I’m sure he’ll sit down with Phil. He’s one guy who knows the triangle in and out, was part of that great championship runs. I think he could be a great coach. He has a great basketball mind.’’

Miller earlier this month tweeted that Steve Kerr should explore his options when it appeared the Knicks gig was his.

Miller said Tuesday “the glamour of coaching the Knicks is great,’’ but family issues should take priority. Kerr chose the Warriors, as his family lives in California.
