‘Nasty’ Breno Giacomini can’t wait for Jets to beat Patriots

New Jets right tackle Breno Giacomini wasted no time getting involved in the rivalry with the Patriots.

Giacomini, who grew up in Massachusetts, said he was a Patriots fan growing up, but now he can’t wait to beat them.

“It will definitely be fun after we win that game,” Giacomini said on a conference call with reporters Friday. “I’ll tell my friends and family, who are all Patriots fans, to go kick some rocks after we win.”

The Jets signed Giacomini after losing starting right tackle Austin Howard to the Raiders. Giacomini visited the team’s Florham Park headquarters on Wednesday and agreed to a deal that night. His deal was announced moments after reports that Darrelle Revis had signed with the Patriots.

Giacomini said he has a “nastiness” as a player and can bring that to the Jets.

“I think I like to play pretty physical, and that’s the mentality that [the Jets] have here,” said Giacomini, who stands 6-foot-7, 318 pounds. “I’m just going to play my role and get better every single day. I’m trying to bring a little bit of nastiness that I have to me, and play like an offensive lineman should play.”

Giacomini knows Jets general manager John Idzik from their time with the Seahawks together.

“My past relationship with John Idzik has been really good,” Giacomini said. “That was one of the main things, to come over here and try to help this team win. When I got to Seattle, I was kind of up and down on the practice squad, and there was a lot of paperwork to sign. I was always with him, signing all that stuff. He’s a great guy, loves football. He’s all about the competition. He wants to win, too. He came from a great program like I did.”
