A former White House attorney under George W. Bush, who was convicted of trying to kill his wife was released from jail Wednesday after posting $1 million bail.
John Michael Farren, who served as deputy legal counsel to George W. Bush, was found guilty of attempted murder by a Connecticut jury on July 11 for the brutal 2010 attack on his then-wife, Mary Margaret Farren.
The Xerox exec bashed his wife’s head in with a flashlight, tore out her hair and nearly choked her to death inside their New Canaan mansion while their kids were upstairs.
Farren will have to wear a GPS ankle bracelet and is to have no contact with his ex-wife or kids children, as part of the terms of his release until his Sept. 11 sentencing.
He also surrendered his passport and can’t travel more than 20 miles from where he’ll be staying in West Hartford, without express permission from the court.
John Farren filed appeals and various other motions to delay the criminal case from going to trial for four years.
Last December, a jury awarded Mary Margaret Farren $28.6 million in a civil suit against her ex-hubby after she tearfully testified that he told her “I’m killing you” before beating her.
