Mike Francesa blasts Mets for ‘acting like jackasses’

First the Jets, now it’s the Mets.

WFAN host Mike Francesa is warring with another New York team, claiming Monday the Mets will no longer allow any members of the organization or of the SNY broadcast team to go on his show.

The Mets’ run on WFAN ended after last season, and the sports radio station now broadcasts Yankees games.

“This is just ridiculous. The Mets are acting like jackasses,” Francesa wailed.

“They really are. They get what they deserve. I hope there’s 10,000 people in Citi Field in a couple of days. You can quote me: jackasses. You hear me? By banning guys from the show — it’s just stupid. Their poor manager [Terry Collins], who they’ll probably boot out the door any day, is not allowed on the show. You know that? Sandy [Alderson] makes moves, he’s not allowed on the show. Even Keith’s not allowed on the show. I mean, you’re banning Keith Hernandez from the show. Utter nonsense.”

In past years, Collins had a weekly spot on the station. The bad blood seemed to escalate last week when Francesa claimed the Mets would not allow him to do a remote broadcast from Citi Field on Wednesday and Thursday when the Subway Series shifts to Queens.

“Now the Mets have banned all their personnel — including their TV people — from coming on the station because they’re angry at the FAN because, you know, the FAN did not re-up their radio contract after all these many years,” Francesa said.

“Regardless of the fact of how much money FAN may have lost because the Mets stunk for the last decade, maybe if they had won a game once or twice, we would have been able to do something about it.”

Francesa updated the freezeout situation Tuesday, saying the SNY team of Gary Cohen, Ron Darling and Hernandez was allowed on the show. A week ago, Darling expressed his displeasure over his signature and likeness being used on the Mets’ controversial loyalty letter in an interview with WFAN’s Joe and Evan.
