The 5 best songs on ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ soundtrack

Move over, “Frozen.” There’s a new movie soundtrack in town.

The romantic comedy “The Fault in Our Stars” opened last Friday and instantly struck a chord with filmgoers, earning $58 million during its first weekend. Now, that success is set to translate to the movie’s soundtrack.

After middling initial sales, the album is racing to the top of the Billboard charts and features a wealth of undiscovered new talent, as well as some little-known nuggets from the past.

Here are five of the best songs on “The Fault in Our Stars” soundtrack.

‘All of the Stars,’ Ed Sheeran

It’s no coincidence that the movie’s main theme references Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars.” Ed Sheeran sounds like he’s definitely channeled the spirit of the Northern Irish band’s slow-burning megahit in his contribution to “The Fault in Our Stars” soundtrack.

‘Strange Things Will Happen,’ The Radio Dept.

These Swedes have been a cult favorite for years and this pretty ditty dates back to their 2003 debut album, “Lesser Matters.” Being part of the “The Fault in Our Stars” soundtrack is bringing them some long-overdue attention.

‘No One Ever Loved,’ Lykke Li

Her incredible voice means that Lykke Li could sing the contents of her bathroom cabinet and still make it sound like the most beautiful thing you ever heard. One listen to this heartbreaking ballad is all it takes to create your own personal Niagara Falls.

‘Boom Clap,’ Charli XCX

The British star is sitting pretty at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to her Iggy Azalea collaboration, “Fancy.” But her brilliant synth-pop contribution to the soundtrack is equally addictive and catchy enough to be worthy of a John Hughes movie.

‘Oblivion,’ Indians

Heavenly dream-pop from Copenhagen-based musician Søren Løkke Juul, who records under the name of Indians. He might be a solo artist, but you’d never guess listening to his layered sounds and lush vocals.
