9 things to know about new ‘Transformers’ hunk Jack Reynor

Mark Wahlberg may be front and center in “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” taking over the leading man reins from Shia LaBeouf, but there’s another starring gentleman everyone will be talking about come Friday when the blockbuster hits theaters.

Meet Jack Reynor, the 22-year-old, Irish-accented actor who plays Shane and will stand his own sharing the screen with massive Autobots and Decepticons in the new movie. Here are nine things to know about the buzzy up-and-comer.

He grew up with Transformers

“I had a range of the toys as a kid,” he tells The Post. “I used to watch the TV shows, and I was a big fan of the films.”

He’s wanted to be an actor since he was 5 years old

But his earliest memory of performing predates even that. “When I was a little, little kid, my family got a new washing machine, and they had a big box that was left over,” he says. “So I cut a big hole in the box, and I made it like a giant TV set. I brought it into the living room, and I did the news and the weather for my family.”

He played one of Vince Vaughn’s 533 kids in last year’s ‘Delivery Man’

It was during a break in filming that movie that he met “Transformers” director Michael Bay and eventually booked the role.

“The most difficult part [of making the movie] for me was [that] I was away for nine months,” he says. “To be away from your home, and everything you know and everything you can relate to, for such a long period of time is quite a daunting challenge.”

And it’s serious — he has a fiancée, model Madeline Mulqueen. “I was incredibly fortunate to have my fiancée with me [during filming,] and she stayed for the entire thing,” he says.

But that didn’t make it awkward for him to romance Nicola Peltz in the movie

“It’s a PG-13 movie — we’re not doing crazy, illicit sex scenes or anything,” he cracks. “I don’t talk to my fiancée about those things before it happens. There’s no need. It’s one of those things where I do my job, and I come home and I compartmentalize it in a way.”

In the movie, he gets to (shocker) drive fast cars and battle explosions

“It does make you feel like a badass,” he admits. “It’s great to be able to go home and tell everybody what you’ve been doing.”

This won’t be the last we see of him

He’s already set to star opposite Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in an adaptation of “Macbeth,” as well as alongside Toni Collette in the Dublin-set “Glassland.”

And he’s already set up his own film company

“I’m really hoping that as time goes on, I won’t have to work as a gun-for-hire so much,” he says of the decision. “From there, I’ll be able to hopefully just pick whatever role I want to do and develop my own movies. That’s really where I want to go with my career.”
