Driver slams through guardrail, flies 25 feet before crashing down

An out-of-control driver crashed through a guardrail on a Bronx overpass and flew through the air before smashing 25 feet down onto the Bruckner Expressway late Friday night, cops said.

The sedan was cruising along the Bruckner service road in Throggs Neck at about 10:45 p.m. when the driver narrowly avoided hitting a concrete divider, then flew through the pedestrian handrail and fence.

The FDNY and NYPD ESU cops responded to the scene of the crash.

The driver was taken to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition, cops said.

Traffic flowed normally on the southbound Bruckner but was bumper-to-bumper going northbound two hours after the crash.
