Cabby allegedly holds couple hostage over dog-fare payment

According to this livery driver, pups pay cab fare, too.

A Chinatown cabby held a couple hostage when he discovered their pooch in the back seat of his car — then whined for more cash for giving the dog a ride, too.

The couple was dropped off on Monroe and Market Streets when the cabby realized they had a canine in the car, police sources said. He refused to let them out until the dog’s owner, a 23-year-old woman, forked over more cash.

“Pay me cab fare!” He fumed. They were in the vehicle for over twenty minutes until cops on patrol spotted the duo cooped up in the backseat and confronted the driver.

Zhu Zhang, 56, of Queens, was charged with two counts of unlawful imprisonment.

He also received a desk-appearance ticket, said police.

The 23-year-old and her partner were left unharmed. The pup was OK too.

It wasn’t immediately clear what type of dog they had and the victim couldn’t be reached for comment.
