PA disability cop-turned-rocker gets plea

A Port Authority cop who claimed he couldn’t work because he injured his right arm — then raked in disability payments and his full salary as he toured the country with his rock band — pleaded guilty Tuesday to dodge a possible 20-year prison sentence.

Christopher Inserra, 32 — who resigned from the PA on Monday — admitted in Brooklyn federal court that he pretended to be injured for about two years beginning in June 2010 so he could collect his $90,000-per-year salary plus almost $30,000 in disability payments. He now faces eight to 14 months behind bars.

“During that time, you were the lead singer of a Brooklyn-based hardcore rock band,” noted federal Judge Leo Glasser.

“You repeatedly gripped the microphone and jumped around the stage while flailing your right arm in a rapid back-and-forth motion.”

Inserra could have faced up to 20 years behind bars if convicted. His plea deal allows him to appeal only if he is sentenced to more than 18 months in prison.

“I did receive an injury on the job,” Inserra said in a brief statement in court.

“At some point after that, I was recuperated enough to return back to work on full-duty, but I did not return.”

Inserra refused to speak or express any remorse as he left the Downtown Brooklyn courthouse.

“Those guys make a lot of money. Why’d he have to steal more?” a law-enforcement source joked, referring to PA cops.

On Tuesday, Inserra paid back $7,500 of the money he stole, his defense attorney said.

His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 5.
