St. John’s professor filed false police report over ‘robbery’

A St. John’s theater professor allegedly staged a caper at the Port Authority Bus Terminal and was later arrested for filing a false report, sources told The Post.

Lawrence Meyers, 65, of the West Village, allegedly played a victim to the hilt on Monday, insisting that his shoulder bag containing two laptops was swiped.

But PA detectives scanned surveillance video that showed the professor didn’t even have a bag when he entered the building, a source said.

Meyers later told detectives that he “may have imagined” the whole thing, a source said.

Meyers was issued a desk- appearance ticket for filing a false police report — a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail.
