Anonymous critics pull back on Nikki Finke attack

An anonymous group that launched a parody site of much-feared Hollywood blogger Nikki Finke backed off on Thursday.

The self-styled Committee for Decency in Journalism, which created a stir Wednesday with its NikkiStink.com, has removed surreptitious photos and video taken of the reclusive Finke from the offensive site.

Instead, under the headline “It’s Over…For Now,” the committee says: “We think we’ve made our point.”

The committee did, however, leave six damning quotes attributed to Finke about bold-faced names that belittle some aspect of their appearance — presumably as a warning to the blogger to play nice on her own NikkiFinke.com.

It also warned, “Should it become necessary to add even more powerful content we will.”

While Finke pulls no punches, critics called her attackers sexist for picking on her appearance and cowardly for not putting a name to their work.
