TNT gets ‘Hunger Games’ and ‘Divergent’ franchises

‘The Hunger Games” and “Divergent” movie franchises are coming to TNT.

The cable network has acquired the TV rights to the young adult blockbusters with the first “Hunger Games” film set to premiere on TNT in winter 2015. “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” will air starting the following winter and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” Parts 1 and 2 will debut in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

“Divergent” starring Shailene Woodley will premiere in 2016, with the next three films in the franchise coming to the network over the following three years.

The first two installments of “The Hunger Games” — which star Jennifer Lawrence — grossed more than $1.5 billion at the global box office.

“Divergent” brought in nearly $300 million; the second installment “Insurgent” is slated to hit theaters in March 2015.
