Flyers star arrested for repeatedly fondling male cop: report

Canada Day is a time of celebration for many NHL players, including Flyers star forward Claude Giroux, who was feeling a little cheeky on his country’s anniversary.

Giroux was arrested late Tuesday night in an Ottawa bar for allegedly repeatedly touching the buttocks of a male police officer, according to The Ottawa Sun.

The report also mentions — surprise, surprise! — “Alcohol is believed to have been involved.”

The officer removed Giroux from the bar after the first grope, according to the report, and asserted he did not recognize the two-time NHL All-Star at the time. Giroux spent the night in jail and was released Wednesday morning, without any charges being pressed.

Flyers’ GM Ron Hextall told the media, “We are aware of reports surrounding Claude Giroux. Until we have more information, we will withhold making any further comment.”

This is not the first time that the 26-year-old has gotten into offseason shenanigans. Last summer, Giroux required surgery on his right index finger after a golf club “shattered” and splintered into his hand, causing tendon damage that sidelined him for several weeks.
