Man used fake NYPD badge to get sex from hookers: cops

Edgar Diaz

A sicko in Queens was arrested for using a fake NYPD badge to force prostitutes to sleep with him in exchange for protection, law enforcement sources told the Post.

In at least two cases, Edgar Diaz, 28, targeted young women on the hooker website Backpage.com and met up with them disguised as an undercover cop in a ploy to get free sex, a source said.

Diaz showed up to meet one prostitute at the Queens Motel Inn in Flushing on Aug. 6 around 1 a.m. wearing an NYPD T-shirt, a criminal court complaint states.

Once the woman got in his 2005 Nissan, he whipped out a gold police shield and threatened to arrest her, the complaint states.

“You remind me of my sister,” Diaz said, changing his tune. “I can call off the other officers and give you a break.”

Later Diaz circled back to the hotel, where he followed her back to her room, the complaint states.

The creep then dropped his pants, saying, “I will take care of you, but you have to comply.”

The sex worker said she wasn’t comfortable, but he allegedly forced her to sleep with him anyway, the complaint states.

Two days later, police arrested Diaz at the Queens motel and found nine pills of Molly, some weed, and $3,976 stuffed in a cardboard box in his room, court papers show.

Police also recovered the NYPD T-shirt and phony badge, the papers state.

Diaz was charged with criminal possession of controlled substances, criminal impersonation, criminally using drug paraphernalia, sexual abuse, and unlawful possession of marijuana, court records show.

In 2012, another prostitute reported Diaz to police but became uncooperative when she discovered he wasn’t a real police officer, and that case was later dropped, sources said.

Cops believe that Diaz may have scammed other sex workers and want to encourage them to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
