Architect’s immigration call postpones attempting shooting trial

The Manhattan trial for the Korean architect arrested for allegedly plotting to shoot up his Soho design firm was put on hold Tuesday after he was rounded up by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials at his home the night before.

Kon Jang, 35, is now locked up in Essex County jail awaiting deportation, said his lawyer, Howard Myerowitz.

“It’s possible the trial won’t be finished and he’ll be deported,” Myerowitz said. “It’s unfortunate. He wanted to fight this charge and clear his name.”

Sodam Ha — Jang’s married ex-mistress and former supervisor at CetraRuddy, an architectural firm — testified Monday that Jang devised a plot to kill his co-workers after she dumped him.

But the defense countered Ha made it up when Jang threatened to disclose their tryst to her husband.

“Here is perfect confirmation for our case,” Myerowitz said. “Our theory was that she did this to get him picked up and thrown out of the country, and look — that’s exactly what happened.”
