Witch doctor’s creepy claim: I injured Ronaldo for World Cup

The witch doctor did it.

An influential witch doctor from Ghana known as “The Devil of Wednesday” vowed months ago to hex soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo with an injury before the World Cup.

Now that Ronaldo, whose Portugal team was drawn into the so-called Group of Death along with Ghana, Germany and the US, has been diagnosed with a combo of worrisome injuries to his left leg, the medicine man is taking the credit/blame.

This was the ominous warning from December:

On Wednesday, the Portuguese football association announced Ronaldo — who played at less than 100 percent for Real Madrid in last month’s Champions League final — was suffering from tendinosis in his left knee and a muscle problem in his left thigh.

Now for the spooky quotes from Nana Kwaku Bonsam, to a radio station in Ghana, as reported by The Guardian:

“I know what Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury is about, I’m working on him. I am very serious about it. Last week, I went around looking for four dogs and I got them to be used in manufacturing a special spirit called Kahwiri Kapam.

“I said it four months ago that I will work on Cristiano Ronaldo seriously and rule him out of the World Cup or at least prevent him from playing against Ghana and the best thing I can do is to keep him out through injury.

“This injury can never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is his thigh, next day it is something else.”

Ghana is scheduled to face Portugal in its final Group G match on June 26. First, it faces the US in both teams’ tournament opener on June 16.
