‘Shark Week’s’ fin-tastic numbers

‘Shark Week” got off to a strong ratings start Sunday, with the annual Discovery event drawing 3.6 million viewers in its opening night.

It also snared a record 2.27 rating in the “money” demo of adults 25-54 — the best in “Shark Week’s” 27-year history. Total viewership fell short of last year’s opening audience (4 million viewers).

Sunday’s lineup included “Air Jaws: Fin of Fury” and “Shark of Darkness: Wrath of Submarine,” which averaged 3.3 million viewers and 3.8 million viewers, respectively.

The late-night talk show “Shark After Dark,”  hosted by Josh Wolf, drew 1.6 million viewers at 11 p.m.
