US surveillance shows abducted Nigerian schoolgirls

Recent US surveillance video taken in Nigeria shows what appears to be large groups of girls held in remote locations, giving hope that the more than 200 schoolgirls who were abducted by Boko Haram extremists might be found, a report said Tuesday.

The US aerial imagery was made in the northeastern part of the country and suggests that at least some of the schoolgirls are being used as bargaining chips for the release of prisoners, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The 219 schoolgirls were taken captive by the radical Islamist group on the night of April 14.

It was feared they would be forced into marriage or sex slavery.
