Entertainment Weekly has tapped Kyle Ryan from The Onion’s A.V. Club in Chicago, to be the new editorial head of EW.com.
Ryan started at the Onion in 2005 and rose to managing editor of the A.V. Club, which is actually a somewhat serious news take on pop culture in movies, books, music and TV.
“We may not know exactly what the digital future will look like in a year or two, but we need people who are fast, flexible and funny,” said Entertainment Weekly Editor Matt Bean, his new boss. “We’re focused on building cross platforms, and he’s worn many hats.”
