NYPD school crossing guard arrested in hit-and-run

An NYPD school crossing guard was arrested for backing into a pedestrian in Queens Sunday and then fleeing the scene of the accident, cops said.

Carmen Malik, 52, was reversing her 2007 blue Volvo on 165th Street near Jamaica Avenue at 1:20 p.m. when she hit a 44-year-old woman who was trying to cross the street, cops said.

The victim, who was crossing mid-block, took down Malik’s plate number as the car drove away and reported her to police, cops said.

Cops called Malik on the phone and she returned to the scene an hour later and was arrested, cops said.

The victim refused medical attention, officials said.

Malik was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and unsafe backing of a vehicle, police said.
