De Blasio doesn’t march but doesn’t explain not attending

Mayor de Blasio was a no-show at the “March for Justice” — and dodged reporters’ questions at an earlier appearance Saturday about why he wouldn’t attend.

“I’m not going out to the march, but I’m obviously in regular touch with Chief [of Department Philip] Banks and other police officials, regular touch with some on the Mayor’s Office team,” he said.

Speaking at the Kingsboro Temple of Seventh-Day Adventists in Park Slope, Brooklyn, de Blasio praised the march as a positive “expression of people’s concern.”

“We are all feeling still weeks later the pain of the tragic loss of Eric Garner,” he said.

Politicians attending the rally included council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito; council members Helen Rosenthal, Vanessa Gibson, Carlos Menchaca and Daneek Miller; Democratic gubernatorial candidate Zephyr Teachout; and ex-Gov. David Paterson.
