Maxim Magazine suing porn site for using name

What a bunch of boobs.

Maxim Magazine, which bills itself as “the place to come to if you love looking at the hottest ladies the planet has to offer,” is suing an Arizona-based porn site for copying its trademarked name.

MaximModeling.com “misleadingly uses the Maxim trademark to solicit young women to pose for and/or appear in ‘softcore’ and ‘hardcore’ pornographic images and videos,” according to the $5 million Manhattan federal court claim.

“Maxim is an extremely strong brand,” lawyer Arthur Jacobs told The Post. “They use the name for their modeling agency and use it for a very condemnable purpose.”

Jacobs insists that Maxim, which tempts readers on its own website with “sexy pictures of A-list actresses, curvy lingerie models, swimsuit babes, and a slew of celebs not wearing very many clothes,” does not include nudity in its US editions and that the offending modeling agency ignored its request to stop using the name.

MaximModeling.com, which advertises pay of $500 to $1,200 “per shoot” for “erotic assignments” and links to a hardcore porn site, was a name that “just sounded cool,” owner Eddie Coates said.

Coates says he never received a cease-and-desist letter, and questioned whether Maxim truly enforces its trademark.

“There’s about 100 companies using that name,” he said.

Sometimes people do ask if he’s associated with the famous magazine, Coates said.

“And I tell them no,” he added.
