Seaver donates baseball collection to Hall

COOPERSTOWN — What a day it was for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Not only were there six new inductees and the third-largest crowd in the event’s history, but Hall chairperson Jane Forbes Clark announced Hank Aaron and Tom Seaver have agreed to donate their baseball collections to the Hall.

Seaver, the former Mets great, continues to battle Lyme Disease, and said some days are more difficult than others. But he said he is not giving in to the disease.

“I’m still working every day in the vineyard, and enjoying each day out there,’’ Seaver, 69, said of his passion for wine making.

Seaver also had some fun on the bus from the hotel to the Clark Center, telling some of the new inductees to make sure they get their wives’ names right in their speeches.

“He said, ‘All right boys, don’t forget your wife’s name. Say it right now. What’s your wife’s name?’’ Bobby Cox said.
