A Brooklyn jury took just an hour Friday to convict a man of fatally stabbing his wife in front of their 13-year-old son — and the boy said he has no plans to visit his father in prison.
“It hurts because it’s still my dad, but at the end of the day, he did what he did, and there’s consequences,” said Noah Roberts, now 17, who testified against his father, Eustacio Roberts.
The younger Roberts bravely took the stand to provide the key eyewitness testimony that led a Brooklyn Supreme Court jury to convict his father. He testified about watching his dad plunge a knife into his mom, Maritza Jolliffe, in their Canarsie home in 2010.
“I pulled my mom into the bedroom and closed the door because I was trying to protect her,” Roberts said on the stand Tuesday.
Asked if he’ll visit his father in prison, the younger Roberts said, “Not anytime soon. It would be a couple of years” at least.
Eustacio Roberts faces 25 years to life for his conviction on the murder rap, and yet he was stoic when the verdict was read.
“It’s like he didn’t have any emotions,’’ Noah Roberts said later. “He acted like he knew he was going to be guilty already. He knew his fate.”
