NFL wants to make it easier for players to smoke pot

The NFL has been doing some thinking — like some really deep thinking, man — and the league is likely to mellow out its marijuana policy.

According to ESPN, a revised drug policy will increase the THC threshold for a positive marijuana test and will reduce the punishments for violations involving the herb.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon, fresh off a breakout 2013 season, is facing a year-long ban for flunking a second marijuana test.

In addition to re-calibrating the penalty levels for marijuana usage, representatives of the NFL players union are interested in examining research on the drug’s medicinal qualities, according to ESPN.

There are hangups in the adoption of a new drug policy, however, such as settling on the arbitration procedures for non-analytical positives and breaking a long-running stalemate on HGH testing.
