Ian Schrager buying stately Westchester mansion

New York City icon Ian Schrager, co-creator of legendary Studio 54, is buying a stately home in Bedford — the posh, horsey-area of Westchester.

The five-bedroom, 4½-bathroom mansion, at 213 Baldwin Road, was asking $4.9 million. Built in 1936, the estate includes a pool and detached two-car garage — all on 11.7 acres, according to the listing with Renwick Sotheby’s International Realty.

Schrager’s new neighbors include makeup artist Gucci Westman and her hubby David Neville, a co-designer at Rag & Bone. The couple bought a 20-acre estate on Baldwin Road last year. Broker Muffin Dowdle, of Ginnel Real Estate, did not return calls.

Cook out

After seven years as a key member of Chef Daniel Boulud’s team, Chef Gavin Kaysen is packing up and moving back to his hometown, Minneapolis, to pursue his dream to open his first restaurant.

To help fund that dream, Kaysen is selling his dreamy Manhattan penthouse at 170 E. 77th St. The 1,113-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom penthouse at The Diamond House — which Barbara Walters (a Cafe Boulud regular) recently scoped out with a friend — is asking $1.75 million. The condo features a terrace off the living room and a large private roof terrace above the apartment.

There’s also a chef’s kitchen (we would hope!) and custom closets throughout. Kaysen will remain executive chef at Café Boulud until early summer. Kaysen was Food & Wine’s best new chef in 2007 and received the James Beard Foundation Rising Star Chef of the Year award in 2008. He also served as head coach for the Bocuse d’Or USA Foundation. The listing brokers are Douglas Elliman’s Tristan Harper and Shannon Dunne.
