Times Square jumper’s body found 12 hours later

The show must go on.

A 37-year-old man plunged to his death Friday from the W hotel, landing on the roof of the Lunt Fontanne Theatre, where he remained until Saturday morning.

Workers said they heard a loud noise moments before “Motown the Musical” began.

“Everybody heard a thump. They thought it was an explosion. It shook the chandelier,” a worker said.

“They jumped up, it scared them,” a second worker said.

The play started at 7:30 p.m.

“The box office workers heard it and [they] were waiting for everybody to start running out,” the worker said.

But no one did.

The lifeless body wasn’t discovered until around 7 a.m. Saturday, when a tourist getting her morning workout at the hotel’s 10th floor gym — which overlooks the theater’s rooftop on Broadway near 46th Street — spotted the corpse and called hotel security.

Police responded this morning and the crime scene is still active. Cops are still not sure when the man jumped or how long his body may have lay undiscovered.
