Is this Heat’s LeBron lure? Signing McRoberts, Granger

LeBron James has to be wondering what Pat Riley’s next move is. Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger can’t be the Heat president’s big splash.

Miami landed a free-agent target Monday afternoon, but McRoberts (or Granger) isn’t the kind of player who would convince the King to re-up with the Heat. This isn’t quite Carmelo Anthony joining forces with James, reportedly set to meet with Riley in the next few days.

ESPN reported McRoberts agreed to sign with the Heat for their full midlevel exemption. It will pay him $23 million over four years with a player option after year three. Granger is expected to receive the bi-annual exception, according to Yahoo! Sports. That would provide Granger with a two-year deal for $4.2 million, with the second year a player option.

The multi-talented McRoberts, a seventh-year pro out of Duke, averaged 8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists for Charlotte last season. Granger, 30, hasn’t been the same since suffering multiple leg and knee injuries. He was traded from the Pacers at the trade deadline last season to the 76ers, who gave him a buyout. The Clippers picked him up and he served as a role player down the stretch.
