Supposed Carmelo Anthony blockbuster deal is bogus

TORONTO — No need for Carmelo Anthony to start packing his bags. The Knicks star says he is staying put through Thursday’s trade deadline.

Two NBA sources told The Post the Knicks have not talked to either the Celtics nor Cavaliers about a reported three-team scenario that would involve Anthony, who has a no-trade clause.

Even if a convoluted trade agreement, however unlikely, somehow did come to fruition, Anthony would have had to approve the deal via his no-trade clause.

LeBron James called the report “false.’’

On Saturday morning, when he learned of the rumor, an angry Anthony said on SiriusXM Radio, “There’s always some trade s–t going on. … I’m not going anywhere.”

Later, after the Eastern Conference for Sunday’s All-Star Game, Anthony said of the distraction: “It sucks. I’m tired of these rumors, man. I’m tired of them.’’

The original report stated the Cavaliers and Celtics, in their discussions for Kevin Love, had “very preliminary’’ talks about asking the Knicks to get involved with Anthony. It stated those talks hadn’t progressed. However, James says none of it is right.

“It’s false,’’ James said. “It’s false. And that’s the last thing I was kind of worrying about right now.’’

Anthony brought it on himself Friday, when he said the prospect of missing the playoffs three straight seasons “won’t sit well with me.”

Asked if he has thought about his future, Anthony said Friday, “Not yet. Not yet. Not yet,” adding he’s sure he’ll eventually discuss it with his “team,’’ meaning CAA agents, who have not been embraced by the Phil Jackson reign.

Anthony’s comments Friday were a departure from his remark during training camp: “I’m here to stay.’’

He did reiterate Saturday that he is not ready to waive his no-trade clause.

“Not at this point,’’ Anthony said. “I dealt with that [Friday]. My answer and my feeling don’t change in 24 hours. So not at this point. I’m not even thinking about that.’’

Anthony explained why he wanted to stick it out.

“Doing it in New York is better than doing it any place in the world,’’ Anthony said. “One in New York is better than multiple somewhere else. That was the reason I wanted to come to New York. That’s the reason I’m in New York. It just bothers me when I start hearing all these trade rumors. Nobody has talked to me. I don’t know where it comes from. Sometimes it gets to you. As a player you get tired of hearing something all the time.

“Yeah, I don’t want to run. I could have run somewhere when I was a free agent. I came back for a reason. I don’t feel like I got to keep expressing that part of why I came back to New York.’’

Though the Knicks are not discussing any three-team deal that would send Melo to Cleveland, deal, Anthony said he is glad he has the clause. He also has a 15 percent trade kicker, meaning the Knicks would have to pay him a multi-million-dollar bonus if they dealt him.

“That was something my agent really talked about,’’ Anthony said. “Knowing how few people had that, that was a big part of signing that contract. It’s security at the end of the day. You never know what could possibly happen or what it can do. All players would want that.”

Anthony still is trying to lure a star to New York and Kevin Durant — maybe even James — will be a free agent this summer.

“Of course. I say why not come with me,’’ Anthony said. “When I say playing with stars, that’s conversations. Everybody has those conversations. Guys that are in my circle have those conversations. On the Olympic team, guys have those conversations — 90 percent of the time it never happens. The Miami thing came into fruition, but it took a lot. That’s just dreams and wishes.’’

Anthony was voted this weekend as VP of the Players Association as the new collective bargaining agreement has an opt-out clause upcoming. He said in the new CBA, he may push for more players to have no-trade clauses.

“That was a special moment for me, my peers voted for me,’’ Anthony said. “That meant more to me than someone else voting for me. That would be very helpful. Guys are waiting for me to get on as VP so they can start giving me things they want to happen.’’
