Anita Diamant’s massive, worldwide best seller “The Red Tent” is coming to television, courtesy of Lifetime.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, a cast of strong TV actresses, including Morena Baccarin (“Homeland”), Minnie Driver (“About a Boy”) and Rebecca Ferguson (“The White Queen”), has been assembled to tell the biblical-themed story about Dinah, the daughter of Leah and Jacob, an Old Testament character whose coming-of-age is the focus of Diamont’s 1997 novel, which has been translated into 28 languages.
Debra Winger, who received an Emmy nomination for her performance in “Dawn Anna,” an earlier Lifetime movie, rounds out the predominantly female cast. The movie will be produced by Sony Pictures.
