Michael Che makes ‘Daily Show’ debut

New “Daily Show” correspondent Michael Che made his debut on Jon Stewart’s program Wednesday night, and his first assignment sent him straight into a war-torn nation.

The former “Saturday Night Live” writer reported from “Syria” on the presidential election, impressing the host with his nuanced reporting on the political crisis there and his apparent knowledge of Arabic.

But before he can show off too much, Aasif Mandvi — on leave working on the HBO comedy series “The Brink” — crashes the segment to defend his claim on the “Muslim beat,” and before long the whole thing devolves into potty humor.
