This week’s couple: No local connection

Having both been raised in Brooklyn, it seemed a little hometown pride would go a long way between Elisa, 26, and Ken, 27. As it turns out, home may be where the heart is, but for whatever reason, neither of those hearts were quite into each other. Find out why the shared bruschetta at La Lanterna Di Vittorio in the West Village was good — but not good enough for them to share another night together.

He said:

I could tell Elisa wasn’t my type, physically, from the beginning, but she came off as a nice person.

We talked about our jobs. Her work in environmental education is really cool; I love meeting people who work in the sciences and are passionate about it.

The food at La Lanterna Di Vittorio was good; I had a mushroom pizza.

Elisa was easy to talk to, but overall, she struck me as the type who is a bit more reserved and quiet. I felt like I was pushing new things to talk about towards the end of the night.

I’m not really interested in meeting up again, and we didn’t exchange numbers. Elisa is a perfectly enjoyable person to talk to — we just didn’t hit it off.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Kenny. He’s cute, and once we started chatting I felt comfortable.

At times it was a little hard to think of new things to talk about, but we do have some things in common: We’re both from Brooklyn, which was cool, and we’re both in the education field, although on different sides of it (I’m a teacher; he develops a Web-based tutoring program). We’re also both into “Game of Thrones” (the books and the show), so I didn’t feel like a huge nerd.

La Lanterna Di Vittorio has a pretty romantic atmosphere, like a backyard garden and candles.

Kenny seems really sweet and is clearly smart and polite. I think we both had an entertaining time but aren’t really interested in anything more.
