‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ canceled after one season

Well, that didn’t last long.

“The Arsenio Hall Show” was cancelled Friday after one season on the air.

The late-night show, syndicated by CBS Television Distribution (11:30 p.m./Ch. 11), got off to a promising start last fall, but its ratings flagged over time and it never rebounded — despite boasting Jay Leno’s first on-air appearance after leaving NBC’s “Tonight Show.”

“While there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue,” CBS said in a statement.

“I’m gratified for the year we’ve had and proud of the show we created,” Hall said in a statement. “I’d like to thank everyone on my staff for rallying around me and striving to make the best show possible every night.”

After winning “The Celebrity Apprentice” in 2012, Hall was spurred to make a comeback after hosting the popular late-night talk show “Arsenio” from 1989-94.
