Luxe British shop Aspinal finds a home at Brookfield Place

British luxury-goods maker Aspinal of London has planted a flag in New York. The classic leather goods and accessories company that is a favorite of the royal family has signed a lease for just over 1,000 square feet at Brookfield Place.

The jewel box-like store has 100 feet of windows overlooking the redesigned Winter Garden at the edge of the Hudson River.

Kim Mogull, CEO of the retail and real estate investment company Mogull Realty, said, “It was obvious that Brookfield Place is becoming downtown’s own Fifth and Madison avenues and was a spot-on match for Aspinal of London’s flagship.”

Mogull is actively expanding the brand nationwide as their exclusive US broker, and is also seeking a second luxury location in Midtown.

“It’s a coup for Brookfield Place,” said Ed Hogan, director of retail leasing, who represented the Brookfield Properties ownership in-house.

The complex will open next year after a $250 million retail and dining renovation that will turn it into a magnet for luxe shopping with brands that include Hermès, Salvatore Ferragamo, Burberry and Ermenegildo Zegna, as well as a new Saks Fifth Avenue.

While the Aspinal of London brand is synonymous with its elegant leathers, its goods include silk scarves, jewelry, and home accessories.
