Oklahoma’s governor bashed a group of New York City devil worshipers for hosting a satanic bacchanalia in the Sooner State — but the sensitive Satanists are mad as hell because they have nothing to do with the upcoming “Black Mass.”
“It is shocking and disgusting that a group of New York City ‘Satanists’ would travel all the way to Oklahoma to peddle their filth here. … It’s a disgusting mockery of the Catholic faith,” Gov. Mary Fallin said in a statement Monday.
“I pray they realize how hurtful their actions are and cancel this event,” she said, referencing a “Black Mass” scheduled for Sept. 21 at the Oklahoma City Civic Center.
She claimed it would feature “urination, nudity and other unspeakable acts.”
But the event is actually hosted by Dakhma of Angra Mainyu — a group of devil worshipers from the governor’s home state, sources told Oklahoma City’s KFOR-TV.
Fired up about the mistake, the Satanic Temple of New York City tsk-tsked the God-lovin’ gov — demanding an apology on Tuesday.
“We have nothing to do with this event whatsoever,” Satanic Temple spokesperson Lucien Greaves said.
“For the governor to display such a complete failure of due diligence, to the point of erroneously focusing public ire on us, is unconscionable,” he said. “We’re disgusted. We have sown a great deal of good will in Oklahoma and this seems to be a deliberate attempt to undermine that. I feel the governor owes our organization an apology.”
The Oklahoma City Civic Center rented the venue out to The Dakhma of Angra Mainyu — which is headed by a tattooed registered sex offender with the moniker “The Dark Lord” — for $420, officials said.
The center can’t deny use of the facility to any group based on their beliefs, an official said.
The governor may have made the mistake because the New York group is behind a move to erect a statue of Satan beside a Ten Commandments monument in front of the Oklahoma statehouse.
