Daughter of ‘honor killing’ victim testifies

The daughter of a man slain in an honor killing in Pakistan took the stand in a Brooklyn courtroom Tuesday and tearfully recalled the brutal murder.

Ayab Asghar, 18, told jurors that she and her family lived in fear of Mohammad Choudhry because he blamed them all for his own daughter’s botched marriage.

Federal prosecutors say that Choudhry was so enraged that his daughter, Amina Ajmal, left her husband for another man, Shujat Abbas, that he had Abbas’ father and sister killed in Pakistan.

Asghar said Tuesday that her father, Mohammad Asghar, ordered her and other family members to leave their small village in Pakistan because they feared Choudhry’s wrath.

“We were afraid they would kill us,” said Asghar.

Choudhry claims he had nothing to do with the killings.
