Get cozy! Polar vortex arrives just in time for Valentine’s Day

Get ready to stay home and shack up with your valentine this weekend, because a brutal polar vortex is going to put the city into a deep freeze.

Valentine’s Day weekend is set to be the coldest two-day stretch in the city all winter, with single-digit temperatures and dangerous wind chills due to a cold front from the Arctic Circle blanketing the Northeast.

The frosty weather will begin slowly Friday, when the mercury will struggle to top 30 degrees.

About an inch of snow could accumulate overnight, creating icy roads and sidewalks.

New Yorkers will want to cozy up by Saturday, with the arrival of a bone-chilling mix of temperatures as low as 2 degrees and a wind chill that will make it feel like 20 below.

“People have to take this very, very seriously,” Mayor de Blasio said Thursday, adding that the city would activate a Code Blue that will allow officials to bring homeless into shelters through Sunday. “This is really abnormal.”

Winds will stick around through Sunday morning, making it feel like minus-15 degrees. By the afternoon, Mother Nature will show a little bit of love with ample sun and lighter winds.

But temperatures will remain in the teens all day, with forecasters expecting a high of only 17 degrees.

But lovers looking to warm up can find refuge in restaurants that offer fireplaces like Black Mountain Wine House in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.

“There will definitely be people cuddled up by the fire,” said owner Tyler Maganzini, who will be dishing out romantic desserts like chocolate-covered strawberries.

While he hoped for a good turnout, he admitted, “Since Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday, maybe people will just hunker down at home and snuggle with their significant other.”

Jasmine Abrol, a broker who lives in Gramercy, speculated that there could be a baby boom come November.

“I mean, there’s Super Bowl babies,” she explained. “So why not Valentine’s babies?”
