Gangbanger stashed cache of weapons for ‘zombie apocalypse’

He’s the “walking” dumb!

A Staten Island man told NYPD cops he kept a small arsenal in his home because he was worried about the “zombie apocalypse,” a law enforcement source said Tuesday.

“He legitimately told the cops that. He was serious,” the source said of Nelson Quinones.

He’s fear of the world portrayed in AMC’s “The Walking Dead” became clear when the Staten Island Gang Squad raided his West Brighton home with a warrant around 6:10 a.m. Friday.

They found two loaded pistols, a .40 caliber Springfield Armory XD40 and a .25 caliber American Firearms Mfg. inside his apartment.

His girlfriend, Meritza Hay, 37, was in the bedroom when cops pulled the .40 caliber handgun out of a dresser drawer and found the other pistol under the bed along with forty-two additional .25 caliber rounds of ammunition, law enforcement sources said.

Cops found Quinones in the parking lot behind the house with a gravity knife, a type of folding knife that is illegal in New York City, a criminal complaint states.

When questioned, Quinones, a Latin King gangbanger, told detectives he was a professional tree climber.

“For work, he’s a tree climber, apparently he trims branches,” the law enforcement source said.
When reached by the Post, Hay said Quinones “flies kites” for a living.

The fascination with zombies ballooned after a naked Florida man, Rudy Eugene, 31, attacked a homeless man and tried to eat his face off in May 2012.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention responded by saying, “the CDC does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead (or one that would present zombie-like symptoms),” spokesman David Daigle told the Huffington Post.

But in the event you want to prepare for a zombie attack anyway, the CDC has a cheeky zombie apocalypse preparedness site where they advise people stock up on water, food, and first aid supplies in case the brain eaters strike.

Hay and Quinones were charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition.
