‘Fisher’ cast adopts dog, pup will aid blind

The cast and crew of NBC’s “Growing Up Fisher” — which stars JK Simmons as a blind attorney — has adopted an 8-week-old Yellow Labrador Retriever named Guf, who will be trained as a guide dog by a “puppy raiser” and eventually paired with a visually impaired individual.

NBC will pick up the cost of Guf’s training (around $55,000). “Fisher,” which co-stars Jenna Elfman and Eli Baker — and is narrated by Jason Bateman — was created by DJ Nash and is inspired by his family (Nash’s father is visually impaired).

“Getting a guide dog didn’t just change Dad’s life, it changed our family’s life,” Nash says. “Not every family will get a TV show out of it. But what they will get is so much better.”
