Ulster County nixes sister-sex assault probe of casino head

Politicians in an upstate county are so desperate to have a Las Vegas-style casino built that they will let a gambling company open shop there despite its connection to Michael Treanor, who has been accused of sexually assaulting his sister.

Legislators in Ulster County on Monday canceled a scheduled probe into the casino honcho — whose sister claimed in a 2007 lawsuit that he forced himself on her after a night of boozing — after he stepped down as the face of the $420 million project.

County Chairman John Paretes nixed the probe after a meeting with Treanor, 48, on Friday and decided that the massive Ellenville project can move forward.

“Michael Vick spent a few years in the slammer and the Jets rehired him,” Paretes said. “We need jobs, we need revenue. We’re just hoping the casino comes here.”

Treanor stepped down as CEO of the Nevele casino project after The Post reported the scathing allegations.

The casino mogul, however, still serves as an adviser to the new CEO and is a partner in the company that owns the project.

The hastily canceled inquiry was originally scheduled to take a closer look at the accusations against him.

Paretes said he was initially concerned about the bigwig’s sordid past.

“With him there, it didn’t seem like a good idea, he seemed like baggage,” Paretes said.

But the legislators were satisfied with Treanor stepping down, and Paretes wasn’t concerned if the accused sex offender was profiting off the project.

“I don’t want to know if he’s making money off the project,” Paretes said. “They [county legislators] were satisfied to know that he’s been replaced. It’s time to pull out and move on.”

Treanor was allowed to plead down to a third-degree assault charge in 2007, after his now-41-year-old sister accused him of sexually assaulting her.

The drunken attack allegedly started in the Red Rock West Saloon in Chelsea and ended in his sister’s apartment.

“I remember suddenly being shoved across my bed and into the wall on the other side of the bed,’’ the sister said in an affidavit filed at the time.

“The knuckles on my right hand smashed into the wall. Michael pulled off my pajama bottoms.’’

When she woke up, her brother was lying in bed with her, she claimed. He then showered and left.

Treanor admitted to “having made intentional contact with the victim in this case, recklessly causing injury to her genitals,” but he shockingly claimed that it was consensual, according to a court memorandum.
