Mike Goodson skips Jets practice and no one knows where he is

Troubled Jets running back Mike Goodson failed to show up for the team’s mandatory mini-camp Tuesday, and the team is in the dark about where he is.

Goodson has not been around the team’s training center at all this offseason, but Tuesday was the first day players’ participation was required. The Jets could fine Goodson for each day he misses of the three-day mini-camp.

“I recognize the fact that he’s not here,” Jets coach Rex Ryan said. “That situation will be dealt with.”

It may be time for the Jets to dump Goodson, who still faces weapons charges in New Jersey after an incident last year. He played just two games for the Jets last year after serving a four-game suspension. His season was cut short by a knee injury.

Ryan clearly was annoyed. He said he has not heard from Goodson and no one in the Jets organization has.

“I don’t think we’ve ever had a guy miss a mandatory [minicamp],” Ryan said. “I think [Darrelle] Revis might have even been here.”

Even Goodson’s agent seems puzzled by Goodson’s absence.

“Mike has to be accountable and responsible for his own decisions and actions,” Kennard McGuire, Goodson’s agent, wrote in an email.

Goodson is in the second year of a three-year, $6.9 million contract.

The Jets had a sloppy practice on Day 1 of their mini-camp. It was filled with penalties. The Jets are required to do push-ups after every penalty in practice, which meant the team spent a lot of the day on the ground. Staff members, including general manager John Idzik, also do the push-ups.

“It got ugly out there,” Ryan said. “I’ve got to fix that one. Tomorrow I promise you there won’t be half those penalties.”

RB Chris Johnson participated in positional drills for the first time. He is recovering from January knee surgery and did not do any team drills.

RG Willie Colon (knee) did some stretching and worked with the trainers during practice. Colon said he will be back for training camp.

CB Dee Milliner (hamstring) practiced fully after missing time in OTAs over the last two weeks. … RB Daryl Richardson (toe) participated in positional drills. … There are six tryout players in camp: P Drew Butler, K Andrew Furney, K Carson Wiggs, P Jacob Schum, OL Bruce Campbell and OL Ray Dominguez.

The Jets signed third-round pick CB Dexter McDougle. All 12 picks are now signed.
