Assault rap for man accused of breaking rookie cop’s teeth

The thug accused of attacking a rookie cop and breaking several of her teeth after she stopped him and his pals for smoking pot Sunday, was charged with assault Tuesday in Manhattan criminal court.

Judge Kevin McGrath set bail at $100,000 cash for John Pica, 26, as he was arraigned on the felony charge for shoving the cop face-first down a flight of stairs.

The altercation began when cops caught Pica and three pals smoking weed in the Clinton Houses in Harlem.

When Pica tried to run, the cop grabbed the goon’s hoodie to stop him. “[He] reached behind himself with his arm and pushed informant face first down stairs causing informant to break multiple teeth,” court papers say.

The cop, on the force for only a year, needed emergency dental surgery and suffered cuts and swelling to her face and lips, authorities said.

Pica has several prior arrests including for allegedly stealing a woman’s purse last July, pot possession, drug sales, firearm possession, panhandling and disorderly conduct, records show.

He’s due back in court July 25th.
