Lady Gaga slays music business in new video

You can always expect a heavy dose of pretention in any Lady Gaga video. But with the brand new clip for “G.U.Y.” she pretty much breaks the scale.

The self-directed 12-minute film premiered on Saturday night’s edition of NBC’s “Dateline” and casts Gaga as an angel, pillaged by shifty businessmen before being resurrected and exacting her revenge. “G.U.Y.” also features inexplicable cameos from the cast of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” as well as appearances from actors playing Michael Jackson, Jesus Christ and Mahatma Gandhi. If that wasn’t pompous enough, the video also ends with four minutes of credits.

Check it out below.

You don’t need to be her therapist to realize Gaga (who split with her manager Troy Carter last year) currently has some less-than-complimentary feelings about the music industry. She gets her vengeful state-of-mind pretty well in the video to “G.U.Y.” but it’s not enough to hide the fact that the song itself is one of the New Yorker’s weakest singles to date.
