Islanders bringing back third-string goalie Kevin Poulin

The Islanders wrapped up their final restricted free agent Thursday when they signed goalie Kevin Poulin to a one-year, two-way contract.

The deal is worth $650,000 in the NHL and $175,000 in the AHL, with $275,000 of it guaranteed.

Poulin, 24, has yet to establish himself as a big leaguer, having a 3.08 goals-against average and .900 save percentage in 49 career NHL games. Last season, he went 11-16-1 with a 3.29 and .891, struggling to hold down the fort while starter Evgeni Nabokov was injured.

Poulin is likely to start this coming season in the minors after the Isles signed new starter Jaroslav Halak and established backup Chad Johnson.
